Friday night, February 18, 2022, on diagonal 11 and calle 20, upper part of the urban area of the municipality of Saravena, Arauca, criminals traveling in a vehicle threw an explosive device that detonated near members of the Mobile Squadron of Carabineros of the National Police, without causing harm to members of the Military Forces.
As part of the operation that has been carried out by the Military Forces in that municipality, troops of the National Army began a pursuit and during the crossing of shots, the terrorists abandoned the car in the neighborhood 20 de Julio.
Immediately began the isolation of the sector in order to carry out the relevant procedures, with technological means and drones, with which it was possible to detect that inside the vehicle was conditioned explosive material. With this information, the National Army coordinated with the municipal representative and social leaders isolated the inhabitants to work for their safety.
When securing the area, a thorough and detailed work was begun by the Army and Police anti-explosive experts, who controlled the deactivation of improvised explosive devices. The IED were in cylindrical metal containers, and had approximately thirty kilograms of ANFO-type explosives, with shrapnel to strike the good physical condition of civilians and Military Forces.
