The Colombian Air Force and the National Aeronautical Service of Panama, SENAN, completed the Combined Air and Maritime Interception Operation ZEUS-PANCOL, which was carried out from April 17 to 23 at the Air Combat Command No.5 and at the Panama Pacifico airport.

The objective of this activity was to consolidate and standardize procedures, in order to combat transnational crime and will serve as a framework for real combined operations that occur in the border area against illegal aircraft.

During this combined exercise, Airspace Surveillance and Control means were used, carrying out missions on an unidentified aircraft, simulated by a C-208 aircraft of the Colombian Air Force, belonging to the Air Combat Command No.5, CACOM 5, and an SR-560 aircraft, of the No. 3, CACOM 3; the two aircraft crossed the border of both countries.

Completed the mission, crews of the Colombian air force and the SENAN will be trained for the deployment and development of combined operations and cooperation in the border area, with established procedures that create a greater efficacy in the future for the suppression of the illicit transnational air traffic, while maintaining a constant communication with the different systems of defense leading to greater coverage in areas adjacent to the common borders.

The closing ceremony was held in Rionegro, with the participation of the Chief of Air Operations of the Colombian Air Force, and the Deputy Director of the National Aeronautical Service of Panama.
