National Army and Police find war material on Casanare roads

ejercito-nacional-y-policia-incautan-un-material-de-guerra-en-vias-del-casanare.jpeg

The ammunition and explosives were reportedly handed over to members of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Substructure 28. With this material they could manufacture more than 4000 explosive devices to attack the inhabitants and military personnel of the region.

At a checkpoint at kilometer 12, in the municipality Altos de San Pedro, municipality of Villanueva, Casanare, army and police personnel stopped a truck-type vehicle in which a large amount of war material was found, which apparently belonged to GAO-r Substructure 28.

During the inspection of this truck, 19,800 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 24,866 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, 971 rounds of 6.7 by 28 mm ammunition, 4,200 metres of detonating cord, 1,500 metres of slow fuse and a ton of anfo-type explosives were found by troops. These are materials used by outlaw groups to manufacture and install improvised explosive devices, cylinders loaded with explosives or anti-personnel mines. This amount of explosive material is enough to manufacture more than 4000 deadly traps that hit civilians and troops of the National Army.

According to preliminary information, the material was going to be delivered to members of GAO-r Substructure 28, which commit crimes in the north of the department of Casanare and Arauca to strengthen the terrorist structures that have there their area of interference. The driver of the truck was arrested and put into custody of the authorities to begin their judicial process.

The ammunition was put into custody of the authorities and the explosive material was destroyed in controlled conditions by the anti-explosive experts of the Police and the National Army.
