Military Forces has transported to Providencia 13,800 tons of cargo and more than 180 thousand liters of drinking water

More than 700 members of the National Navy, Army, Air Force and Police participate in the reconstruction of the island.

 

Through sea, air and land, the Military Forces with the National Risk and Disaster Management Unit (UNGRD) have supported the transport of cargo, personnel and humanitarian aid to the Island.

 

After Hurricane IOTA, the Military Forces began a constant work of support to the community of Providencia, San Andr茅s and Santa Catalina, in which all logistical Resources and human talent have been used to help in humanitarian assistance and throughout the reconstruction of the Island.

 

In this effort, the Military Forces have transported by sea more than 13,800 tons of cargo and 180,559 litres of drinking water to Providencia Island.

 

At the same time, tons of foods for domestic animals, as well as heavy machinery, roof tiles, tents and mats have been transported on board ships, aircraft and vehicles of the Military Forces.

 

In Providencia and Santa Catalina, 28,277 tons of debris have been removed, and the roofs of 877 houses have been installed by personnel of the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the National Police, Findeter and other institutions.

 

More than 700 members of the National Navy, the Army, the Air Force and the Police participate in the recovery efforts of the Archipelago.

 

These operations of the collection of debris, humanitarian assistance, health care, and restoration of water services, energy and telecommunications are being carried out in a coordinated manner by the Military Forces, the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the Red Cross of Colombia, the Civil Defense, the Official Body of Firemen and other agencies of the State and regional and national level that are part of the National System for the Prevention and Assistance of Disasters (SNPAD).
