In the parades field “Batalla de Boyacá” of the Military School of Cadets “General José María Córdova”, the ceremony of handover of command of the new General Commander of the Military Forces, Major General Luis Fernando Navarro Jiménez, took place.
President Iván Duque Márquez, presided over the ceremony accompanied by the Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez De Rincón; the Minister of Defense, Guillermo Botero Nieto, and the Military Commanders. In his speech, the President highlighted the commitment and deployment of the Military Forces in the execution of social and infrastructure projects.
In the same act, in the same way, the new commander of the National Army, major general Nicacio de Jesus Martinez Espinel; the new commander of the National Navy, Admiral Evelio Ramírez Gafaro; and the new commander of the Colombian Air Force, General Ramses Rueda Rueda assumed their positions.
In his speech the new general commander reiterated his commitment to mitigate with decisiveness the factors of instability to guarantee the security and defense of the country and his firm will to serve Colombians.
