In the department of La Guajira, the second phase of humanitarian aid distribution to those hit by the wave caused by rains has begun

En la Guajira, inició la segunda fase de entrega de ayudas humanitarias a afectados por la ola invernal

In the last 20 days, the Colombian Navy has transported and distributed 144.9 tons of aid, 40,000 liters of drinking water and 2,085 gallons of fuel in the Department of La Guajira, as well as 35 tons of aid in the department of Chocó. 

 

From Riohacha in the department of La Guajira Department, the second phase of humanitarian aid distribution for those hit by the second rainy season in Alta Guajira began over the weekend. 

 

On board the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Urabá of the Colombian Navy, humanitarian aid and an interdisciplinary team are transported, to continue to conduct the support to the inhabitants of this region of the country, who continue in emergency due to the wave caused by rains that occurs in Colombia.

 

In this second phase, 105.9 tons of aid and 1,540 gallons of fuel are being transported by the Government of the Department of La Guajira, the World Food Program - WFP, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing – ICBF, among other public and private institutions; elements that will be distributed to Puerto Estrella and Bahía Honda.

 

It should be noted that during the emergency, since November 10, the Colombian Navy has arranged its dual units and its human team to contribute to the mitigation of the risks of the inhabitants hit in different parts of the national territory, transporting and distributing to date, 144.9 tons of aid, 40,000 liters of drinking water and 2,085 gallons of fuel in the Department of La Guajira, as well as 35 tons of aid in the department of Chocó.
