28 irregular migrants safeguarded in the Pacific by the Colombian Navy

28 migrantes irregulares salvaguardados en el pac铆fico por la Armada de Colombia

In recent days, the Colombian Navy has rescued 61 irregular migrants who were transiting in the Pacific and the Caribbean.

Among the 28 foreigners who came from countries such as Bangladesh, China, India, South Africa and Venezuela, a minor was found.

Within the framework of the different land and maritime control and security operations carried out by the Colombian Navy units in the department of Valle del Cauca, the lives of 28 foreigners who had arrived irregularly to the town of Chucheros, within the Uramba National Natural Park, approximately 45 minutes of the District of Buenaventura, were safeguarded.

Once the information about the irregular migrants in the area was received, the Colombian Navy Infantry troops transported Migraci贸n Colombia personnel, for the relevant verifications.

A group of people was found in the area, some of whom, noticing the work of the troops, tried to flee without any success. During the search, it was possible to establish that they were 28 foreigners, including three from China, including a minor under 10 years of age; one from South Africa, two from Bangladesh, 20 from India and two Venezuelans.

The Colombian immigration officials, once they verified their documentation, determined that they did not have the corresponding permits to stay in the country.

As it was established, the foreigners would have arrived at the Buenaventura tourist pier, from where they were taken to Chucheros beach, approximately two weeks ago, and would be transported to the United States. It in the same way it was possible to know that they had paid a thousand dollars for the trip.

The foreigners were handed over to Migraci贸n Colombia to carry out the relevant procedures.
